Tom is an international arbitration and disputes specialist headquartered in the United States and the UAE. He chairs Benesch’s Global Infrastructure Team and Construction Law Practice Group, leads Benesch’s Middle East Practice, and its Federal Contracting Group. These teams specialize in planning for or intervening in and completing projects that encounter problems and obstacles, including claims and disputes. They also help clients avoid those circumstances.
Tom has spent his career as a trusted advisor, problem solver, and advocacy partner at an Am Law 125 firm. The overlapping groups he leads emphasize innovation and delivery of essential services to established and developing locales, including those in the energy, chemical, natural resources, transportation, healthcare, manufacturing, embassy, military, and fossil-fuel/renewables sectors. Tom is a trial lawyer by training and has tried and arbitrated disputes globally.
Tom also serves regularly as a neutral mediator, adjudicator, and arbitrator both ad hoc and under the rules of various arbitral bodies in the USA, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, British Virgin Islands, among others. His service on both sides of the hearing table allows Tom to remain on the forefront of project deliver methods, disputes, claims and the technology used to present and defend them. Tom also teaches international disputes and arbitration as a law school adjunct professor.
