Kemsley is the current Chair of the IPBA Insurance Committee. Kemsley has over 30 years’ experience in acting for multinational insurers and reinsurers. He has been recognised as a leading individual in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific and recommended in Best Lawyers as a pre-eminent Australian Insurance Lawyer. Kemsley acts for corporate clients and Insurance based clients including Insurers, reinsurers, underwriting agencies and intermediaries Kemsley’s practice extends to insurance and reinsurance front end advisory and management of complex insurance disputes. With the front-end advisory work, Kemsley has acted for a number of insurers and reinsurers advising on complex insurance and reinsurance regulatory compliance issues including distribution agreements, Australian insurance operations and outsourcing, portfolio transfers and Royal Commissions. Kemsley advises corporates on the purchase of insurances and health-checks of their insurance programs and assisted in negotiating and drafting of insurance terms including endorsements and assessing the appropriateness of insurance covers for local and international programs and alternative risk transfer including captives and mutuals. Kemsley is also involved in advising Corporates in respect of the insurance aspects of due diligences arising out of IPOs, major share and asset sales, privatisation. Kemsley advises State and Commonwealth Governments on insurance and corporate risks; drafting insurance requirements; and review of and drafting of contracts and insurance provisions/terms.
